Tanqiu Zhang is a Chinese illustrator currently based in Cambridge. She graduated from MA Children’s Book Illustration from Cambridge School of Art in 2026. Before joining the course, she studied Art Education and taught art at a secondary school. A growing desire to illustrate her own stories eventually led her to leave teaching. She then took a two-year gap to travel the world. Being inspired by natural and different people, she began her journey as a children’s book illustrator.
Often perceived as quiet and inward-looking, Tanqiu holds an adventurous spirit in heart. She aspires to create stories that are whimsical, humorous, and richly imaginative—stories that bring a smile to both children and adults, while always remaining a genuine source of joy in her own creative life.
